PRAYING

......For a revival of backsliders to come home!

Come, let us return to the Lord. He has torn us, but He will bandage us. He will revive us….He will raise us up… that we may live before Him.    (Hosea 6:1,2)

God, it is so difficult at times to rest in Your sovereignty. We want to rescue you from blame when we are wounded. Yet, we do not want to discover that You were surprised by the storm that damaged us. If forces touch our lives without your watchful gaze, our risk is greater than imaginable. The bruises we bear didn’t come because your powerful hand was bound. Such things baffle us. We simply want the pain to stop. Some of our wounds are self-inflicted. Your laws are as real as gravity. Wounded by our own rebellion, we can’t blame you. We have to accept personal responsibility and repent. You too have been wounded by our sins. That is what the cross showed us. Every sin hurts you. Every rebellious act grieves you. As parents, we too hurt when our children err. Only by turning to you can we be healed. Only by running to your holiness will we find wholeness. The evil one stalks us. He tempts us. Then having fallen in his trap, he plays the accuser and seeks our judgment. We know the moment we turn to you, honestly confessing, our healing begins. You hold the power of life. Death and sin have no hold on you. Some among us are prodigals who have wandered far from you. Others have let their hearts grow cool. A resurrection to you is a resurrection; the degree of deadness is unimportant. Revive us. Heal us. Let your church live! Amen.

Today’s Quote

Pentecost did not come through a preaching service; Pentecost came to a prayer service. From Pentecost to Patmos, God never departs from the pattern. Everything by prayer.
