PRAYING ......In blazing glory!
When the wicked came against me…. My enemies and foes….in this I will be confident. One thing I have desired…. That I may dwell in the the house of the Lord…and to inquire in His temple. (Psalm 27:2-4) Lord, when tragedy comes, we run to You. And we cling to one another. Church attendance soars in bad times. Unity and resolve deepen against a common threat. But terror will never keep us in a relationship with you. Nor will such unity last beyond the panic itself. We have never heard such anti-christian rhetoric. We had never conceived that the truth about sin would be considered hate-speech. We sense the darkness deepening. Sin is in. Righteousness is out. Every other religion is given preferential treatment. We fear for our grandkids. And yet, we cannot be driven by the possibility of terrorism against us. We need a higher quality of unity. We need to see your beauty and your glory. Show us a glimpse beyond this world. Transfix our eyes on you. Lift our gaze. Unite our hearts for positive, not negative reasons. Motivate us, not out of the fear around us, but out of the glory above us. Humble and united, send on us the fire of heaven that silences a city. They crucified Christ, but they were helpless before the blazing power that came as proof that He was not dead. Our world sees us as powerless. We are lambs among wolves. Roar Lion of the tribe of Judah! Show yourself gloriously alive. Reveal to a watching world that we are not wrong about you. You are the only true and living God. Amen. | | Today’s Quote By intercessory prayer we can hold off Satan from other lives and give the Holy Ghost a chance with them. No wonder Jesus put such a tremendous emphasis on prayer. -Oswald Chambers | INTERCEDE For children and youth, the next generation. Prayer- walk near an abortion clinic. At a bank or financial institution. | Prayer Exercise: Send a prayer-gram to a Christian doctor. |

PRAYING ......to have no secret sin!
But the children of Israel committed a trespass regarding the accursed things, for Achan the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed things; so the anger of the Lord burned against the children of Israel. (Joshua 7:1)) Lord God, Israel felt invincible after Jericho fell. Then defeat came at Ai. At a paltry outpost, a minor skirmish turned into major defeat, because of the sin of one man. We have almost forgotten the age old idea of “sin in the camp.” Paul warned us to rid ourselves of the leaven of sin, to get it out of our lives and homes. Achan hid the awful things in his tent. He suffered. The early church found themselves with new converts with divided hearts, Ananias and Sapphira. They wanted to be a part of both worlds. They liked the middle of the road. Like Achan, they concealed their sins. Judgment was severe. Such ideas seem out of place in world that fashions You only as a loving God. Remind us that violations of holiness make us less than whole. They divide us inside. Duplicitous people will never change the world. Mercifully deal with us. Privately expose our hearts to your holy grace. Wrench us free from compromise. We go into battle, but the walls do not fall. Revival does not come. We suffer defeat. Could it be that secret sin is restraining your holy hand? Is there sin in the camp? O, God, may we destroy the hidden thing! Free us from our entanglements with the world. Free us to experience victory on victory. Amen. | | Today’s Quote The greatest hindrance to effective prayer is sin. -Dick Eastman | INTERCEDE At a bank or financial institution. Pray that greed doesn’t blind us and drive compromise. | Prayer Exercise: Find a quiet place and ask God if there are hidden sins in your life. Deal with them. Consider the consequences of hidden sins on your marriage, your family, the church, your life. |

PRAYING ......For the breath of God on His Church!
And He said to me ,”Son of man, can these bones live?” So I answered ,”O Lord God, you know.” So I prophesied, and breath came into them, and lived and stood upon their feet. I will put my Spirit in you, and you shall live. (Ezekiel 37:3,10,14) God, we confess, sometimes we feel that the church has become like these dry bones. We are members of Christ. Yet, we feel more like a box of bones than a living body. We come to the same building, but we lack a vital connection to one another. We are dry. We don’t know our gifts, how to strategically relate to one another in terms of the mission and purpose of the church. We show up. We sing. We listen and pray. But it is clear, the church gathered is not the church assembled. Put us together. Send the wind of the Spirit. Connect us to the head, Christ. Breathe on us. Unify us. Strengthen us. Infuse us with supernatural life to make a difference. Churches around us seem to barely survive. Some are closing their doors. Others are entrenched in stale traditions. Their gatherings are dead and lifeless. Their people are pale and listless. Programs are imported without lasting impact. Staff are recruited to infuse new hope. Only your Spirit can bring new life. Command us to live, for Your glory. Raise up your people. Surprise us with a fresh wave of glorious revival. Unite us for noble causes. Give us the spirit of prophecy. May we speak boldly to your church, Live! Until there is a stirring, a shaking, a coming together, a standing like a mighty army full of your Spirit, ready to obey Your voice. Amen. | | Today’s Quote All Christian organizations should be scrapped every 100 years and started over, except for the missions and evangelism prayer circle. -Unknown | INTERCEDE For city-wide prayer ministries. Search for people of prayer throughout your city! | Prayer Exercise: Pray for the unity of Spirit and for God to connect true believers for a city-wide renewal. |

PRAYING ......For the sins of the Church!
Restore us, O God of our salvation, and cause your anger toward us to cease. Will you be angry with us forever? Will you prolong your anger to all generations? Will you not receive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? (Psalm 85:4-6) God, we see ourselves almost exclusively as disconnected individuals. We know we have an account in heaven, a record. But we may fail to see that our church has a ledger as well, as does our city and our nation. Even if we are righteous before you as individuals, we stand as a part of groups that have sinned. We have failed to gather and ask for your mercy. We have failed to stand before you collectively as churches and cities. A city-wide revival demands a city-wide reckoning with you. We humbly come as intercessors, as Abraham did in behalf of Sodom and Gomorrah, and we ask you to send not what our cities deserve, but what our cities need—a great awakening. Do what you have done before in our land. Awaken us. Turn us back from our sinful ways. March through the land and show yourself gloriously alive. Draw sinners to the cross. Soften the hardest of hearts. Make believers out of skeptics. Turn persecutors into persuasive advocates of the gospel. Let your church be glorious, like light in the darkness. Let it be noble, full of love and grace for hungry hearts with soiled souls. We repent for sins that may have prevented a city-changing revival. Come, Lord. We need you. Our unchurched neighbors need you. Our prayerless schools need you. Our city needs you. I need you. Amen. | | Today’s Quote God may pass by our elaborate programs and outstanding talents, but He will never pass by the prostrate form of an intercessor. -A.A. Wilson | INTERCEDE In the parking lot of a small out-of-the-way-church. Have lunch with a person who attends another denomination. Pray with them for unity among believers and pastors. | Prayer Exercise: Send a card to the pastor of a church in your city that you don’t attend. Simply say, “ I prayed for you today!” |
